Emergency Call Boxes
Emergency call boxes are located in front of Cass Gymnasium, on the outside of Sangamon Hall near the quad area, between Logan Hall and the Workforce Development Center, and in front of the Capitol Area Career Center. These call boxes connect callers directly to the Police Department.
The emergency call boxes were placed in these locations to enable individuals to contact police officers during emergencies. Non-emergency use is prohibited.
To access the Police Department from an emergency call box, press the red button on the front of the box and speak into the integrated receiver. During regular business hours the line will ring through to the switchboard operator on the emergency line of the Police Department, and the operator will dispatch one or more officers to the specified location. During hours when the college is closed, the emergency call boxes ring straight through to the radio of the officer on duty.
